The innovation capital in the heart of Europe is the pulsating center of TUM. Our university was founded here in 1868 – today it extends over several locations in the city. The historic main campus in Maxvorstadt, between Königsplatz and the Pinakotheken, is surrounded by research and service facilities and is home to several faculties.

Garching in the north of Munich has been home to the first research reactor since 1957. Today, the area around the Garching “Atomic Egg” is the largest TUM site and also one of the most modern research and educational facilities in Europe. The Garching campus stands for excellent research and teaching in the natural and technical sciences.

Since fall 2018, there has also been a location of the renowned Technical University of Munich on the Heilbronn educational campus. Students take advantage of the wide range of courses offered by TUM in five study programs. The state-of-the-art campus of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation and the excellence in research and teaching are now an integral part of one of the most innovative regions in Germany, home to numerous successful medium-sized and family-run companies.

The TUM Campus Straubing is the “Integrative Research Center” of the Technical University of Munich. Here we primarily offer continuing education programs for specialists in the fields of natural sciences, technology, chemistry, biotechnology and engineering. The aim is to develop students’ comprehensive understanding of economic and social interrelationships.

In addition to the world’s oldest brewery still in existence, Weihenstephan is also home to the TUM School of Life Sciences at the Technical University of Munich. Our students find the best conditions on the modern campus to further their education under the motto “One Health”.

Our degree and certificate programs currently offer further education opportunities at the University of St. Gallen, HEC Paris, the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, the University of Queensland in Brisbane and Tsinghua University Beijing.
