QL3 – this is the abbreviation of the project “Quantum LifeLong Learning”, which will start at the end of 2021 as a joint project of the Technical University of Munich and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. The aim is to set up a structured education and training program in the field of quantum technologies. As part of the project, experts, professionals and leaders will be able to receive continuing education at the TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning.
“Quantum technologies offer enormous potential for our economy and society,” said Bernhard Kraus, Managing Director of the TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning. “At the institute, we are making the latest, future-relevant research results in this field accessible to practice for the first time with this joint project. Many companies have already recognized the potential of this technology, but experts and managers are still faced with the challenge of transferring this knowledge to the company and finding future-relevant, practical applications for their industry. Structured training in this area has simply not existed up to now. We want to and will change that together.”
Part-time further education courses in the field of quantum technology
To achieve this goal, highly recognized researchers from the renowned universities will work closely with an advisory board from industry and university didactic experts to develop comprehensive concepts and part-time continuing education courses in the coming months. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research within the framework of the “Quantum Futur Education” funding guideline. Prof. Dr. Alexander Holleitner, who holds the professorship for experimental physics at the Walter Schottky Institute of the TUM, is coordinating the project.
Cutting-edge research in quantum technology meets years of industry experience
“I am particularly pleased that such renowned partners from science and industry are working together on the project,” says Bernhard Kraus. “We combine the technical expertise from cutting-edge research at several universities, the best contacts in business and industry through our broad network with methodological knowledge about the design of continuing education courses and innovative teaching and learning methods.”
